Buddleia x weyeriana 'Honeycomb'

The backbone of a heavily populated butterfly garden is none other than the Butterfly Bush, a nectar plant, of which many varieties in the genus Buddleia are in cultivation. Achieving a size of 12'H x 8'W potentially, 'Honeycomb' is said to be an improved yellow variety with an extended bloooming season, fragrant, tolerant of heat and drought, resisistant to disease and pests, and hence, a lot of Butterfly Bush for the buck. Whether or not Butterfly Bush is a woody perennial or a shrub may be a matter of opinion. In South Florida, at least Buddleia is best maintained more like a perennial, with a hard cutting back with pruning shears when plants become leggy. South Florida shrubs, on the other, may be identified as those plants maintained with a chainsaw, since many of the high maintenance landscape plants are actually trees being forced into shrub-like dimensions.
