Butterfly Garden Plants: Buddleia davidii 'Adonis Blue'

from Plants Daily Post

October 19, 2008 Butterfly Plants for Florida Gardens

Buddleia davidii 'Adonis Blue'™ PPAF

This is a dwarf Buddleia, or "butterfly bush" maturing at 3'-5' H and 3'-5'W, a size which may be dwarf in terms of Buddleia, while a 5' x 5' shrub surpasses some people's idea of a garden dwarf. Truly one of the prettier butterfly nectar plants to use in a butterfly garden, in South Florida Buddleia needs hard cutting back after a full bloom, like the larger lantanas. Elsewise it might become stickish and not so lovely. Buddleia was originally spelled Buddleja by Linnaeus and though more correct, that spelling is seldom seem in the industry. The fragrant blue spires of 'Adonis Blue' are also attractive to moths and bees and are long lasting as cut flowers.
